Abstract: x264 is the most advanced, efficient, and flexible video encoder on the market—and it’s free. In this paper, I discuss how to encode video media using the x264 encoding library and try to cover all of the most significant video-encoding settings. I use examples and settings specific to anime (Japanese animation), but I try to explain the settings in an abstract manner so that you may apply your own settings for any type of media you may need to encode.
